| Macclesfield is quite hard area
with regards to Television Aerial reception, main problems are
due being approx 50 miles from the Winter hill transmitter,
also with the area being hilly and quite a lot of trees all
this adds up to problems with reception. If you are fortunate
enough and are clear of obstacles then reception is quite good
if the correct type of Aerial is used. It is likely that the
TV aerial on your house points 48km north-northwest toward the
transmitter at
Winter
Hill, if so you should be able to plug-and-go with a
Freeview box using your existing (group C/D positioned
horizontally) roof-top TV aerial.
Some channels (click
here for list) are on lower power so you may be able to
receive some but not all.
Your aerial could also point 2km east-southeast toward the
transmitter at
Macclesfield, which you cannot receive Freeview from
(but you can see analogue channels).
