| Crewe is situated approx 60
miles from the Winter Hill transmitter which carries the
Digital Television signals for this area, subsequently signals
are greatly reduced due to the distance. However due to the
strong output from Winter hill quite a few areas od Crewe and
surrounding areas can pick up Freeview without to much
trouble. It is advisable to use a quality TV Aerial for
optimum reception. It is likely that the TV aerial on
your house points 60km north toward the transmitter at
Winter
Hill, if so you should be able to plug-and-go with a
Freeview box using your existing (group C/D positioned
horizontally) roof-top TV aerial.
Some channels (click
here for list) are on lower power so you may be able to
receive some but not all.
It could also point 47km south toward the transmitter at
The
Wrekin, if so you should be able receive Freeview but
you may need a new
(group
W (or wideband) positioned horizontally) roof-top TV
aerial.
Your aerial could also point 60km west-northwest toward the
transmitter at
Moel-Y-Parc, which you cannot receive Freeview from
(but you can see analogue channels).
