| Digital TV Reception in the
Bury area is quite varied due its location from Winter Hill. A
lot of it is perfect and has no problems at all where multiple
rooms can be fed from one TV Aerial whereas others are can be
a struggle and cannot recieve a signal from Winter Hill. These
then rely on a Relay transmitter like the one in Ramsbottom
that when it does go Digital will not offer a full Freeview
service as you see advertised as Offcom stated. It is likely
that the TV aerial on your house points 12km west-northwest
toward the transmitter at
Winter
Hill, if so you should be able to plug-and-go with a
Freeview box using your existing (group C/D positioned
horizontally) roof-top TV aerial.
Some channels (click
here for list) are on lower power so you may be able to
receive some but not all.
Your aerial could also point 23km east-southeast toward the transmitter
at
Saddleworth, which you cannot receive Freeview from
(but you can see analogue channels).
Your aerial could also point 6km north-northeast toward the transmitter
at
Ramsbottom, which you cannot receive Freeview from
(but you can see analogue channels).
Known problem areas:
Ramsbottom, Summerseat, Tottington, Walmersley, Edenfield, we
can offer advise on the day to what is the best solution for
you but an alternative is Sky Freesat for those who want a
good selection of Channels but are limited due to location.
Recommended aerials are TRIAX
